Being worried, anxious, freaked out and upset is frustrating and can lead to feelings of hopelessness and confusion.
There is an assortment of day to day issues that can arise and cause your mind to run and heart to pound. With the help of some natural remedies for anxiety we hope to help you return to your normal self-faster.
Remember, experimentation is the best method to finding what works best for you so feel free to pick and choose what you think may be something you can start implementing into your day. We also would encourage you to try the hard or difficult thing in your mind, it might just be the remedy you need.
1) Plan The Day
The first natural remedy for anxiety involves prepping the night before the next day. Spending 10-20 minutes each night writing out the tasks you would like to accomplish the next day leads to clarity in your actions and provides you with purpose when you wake up. This removes a lot of the mental chatter that can occur when you are unsure of what you should be doing.
For many people, the racing thoughts that won’t go away are the main effect that spiral into difficult anxiety issues. Meditation is the perfect solution to assisting with quieting an overactive mind. Rather than following each and every thought that rises from the situations you face daily.
Set aside 5-15 minutes each day to sit in silence, observe your thoughts, and let them go. Find your peace.
3) Express Gratitude
We are all so lucky to be where we are. Obviously we all have our day to day issues that can come up and cause challenges but it’s important to sit back and realize how lucky we are. If you are reading this right now we have the amazing gift of technology and free access to information like this article.
I find writing or saying three things I am grateful each morning immediately sets the tone for the day.
4) Avoid Caffeine
Stimulants such as caffeine can have a negative effect on remedying anxiety. Caffeine works by blocking the depressant function of a chemical called Adenosine which for many leads to great energy and focus.
However, at the same time it can trigger anxiety from the same effect. If you are an avid caffeine consumer I don’t recommend cutting it out completely. Taper your intake down over a period of a couple of weeks and assess how you feel.
For many of us, we are coffee drinkers and energy drink enthusiasts. In fact, we generally build habits that involve these things in our day to day activities without even knowing it. That is why they are so hard to break. Charles Duhigg, author of The Power of Habit recommends replacing a habit with a healthier alternative when resetting a habit loop.
With that being said, replace your caffeine consumption with a green shake. Not only will you decrease anxiety from less caffeine, you will feel healthier, have more clarity, and be more energized.

The physical benefits of exercise have long since been established and physicians always encourage staying active and moving your body. This is potentially one of the biggest natural anxiety remedies. Adaa.org states,
… physically active people have lower rates of anxiety and depression than sedentary
people. Exercise may improve mental health by helping the brain cope better with stress. In one study,
researchers found that those who got regular vigorous exercise were 25 percent less likely to develop
depression or an anxiety disorder over the next five years.
We believe in small steps leading to massive change. Start now and go out for a 10 minute walk, breathe the fresh air and enjoy the environment around you.
7) Reference the Task List
As performed in Tip 1, if you plan the day you are giving yourself a list of the essential things that you need to do the next day. This can be as simple as going out for groceries, getting a workout in, and eating healthy. Regardless of what your task list is, it’s important to reference it daily and see how you are doing. This will keep you from procrastinating and getting anxiety from not having completed things related to work, school, and your home life.
The sense of accomplishment from crossing off the completed items is a bonus!
8) Spend time with those close to you
We all take what we have for granted, we want more, we get consumed in our daily lives, we dig an imaginary hole of self-made problems without realizing how blessed we are. Spending quality time with those close to you will cause you to ease your mind, have fun, and share moments with those who make life great.
9) Take Nutrition Seriously
Diets over the past 50 years have steadily declined with the convenience of fast food and the deterioration in quality regulations. Sugar, salt, alcohol, and processed/fast foods can all trigger anxiety by affecting your hormones negatively. This change can be difficult but we believe it needs to be a consensus in your household. If everyone who consumes the food in the home is on board and supporting each other it installs an accountability group that will in turn make eating healthy a consistent habit in your lives.
Begin by removing all of the bad foods from your fridge or pantry and aim to eat lean healthy meats, complex carbohydrates, and lots of fruits and vegetables.
10) Laugh Out Loud!
Cultivating a good sense of humor and laughing can produce a hit of dopamine within the body even if it is fake! Dopamine is a brain chemical that controls feelings that give you reward and pleasure. According to a study presented in a medical meeting, University researchers found that even having the feeling of laughing coming on would reduce the stress hormone Cortisol. The same hormone that increases when you are anxious.
Take a minute out of your day, find funny videos on YouTube, laugh with your children, find something that makes you take a second and laugh.
Remember, this is all about finding what is best for you. There is no need to jump in and overwhelm yourself with 10 tasks you are now trying to get done everyday. The important thing is pulling a couple that you believe will work best for you and from there you should be able to test and see what works best for you. Good luck with your journey and remember this list will always be here. Come back and check in, update us on your progress, tell us how you are doing.
